MG MGB

1968 MGB GT Manual Overdrive in British Racing Green with black leather uphostery. This GT is a great everyday car which can be enjoyed all year round.
Introduced in May of 1962, the monocoque MG B was a welcome progression from the body-on-frame T-Series and MG A models that preceded it. The more modern construction resulted in weight savings (the car turned the scales at 2028lb), reduced manufacturing costs, and notably tauter handling. Initially, the B was only available in Roadster form - the Pininfarina-penned hatchback GT derivative, with 2+2 seating, not being offered until October 1965. At launch, the model was powered by a three-bearing version of the 1798cc B-Series engine that produced 95bhp at 5,400rpm. However, this unit was replaced by a five-bearing unit two years into production. The MkII model of 1967 brought an updated manual gearbox with revised ratios and synchromesh. By the time GT production ceased in 1980, a total of 125,282 are said to have been produced.
This MG had an extensive restoration in 1994/5 with Motorspeed Ltd (West Sussex) and this cost at the time was in excess of £8000 with the work incliuding new floors, sills, wings and doors etc with lots of supporting invoices and pictures, this resotration is clearly standing the test of time as the car still presents very well to this day. With the best colour of British Racing Green and a large history folder to show how well the car has been cared for over time. This cracking MGB GT has the preferred Manual Overdrive gearbox and whilst out on test drive performed just as she should with a strong engine and smooth gearbox with good oil pressure, a great entry level classic car that is ready for the summer months and show season. This is a car you’d be proud to take to events or could be kept in a collection. The paintwork displays a lovely sheen, and the interior is in good condition with no rips or tears.
