1959 Austin Healey Frogeye Sprite MK I. An original UK RHD MkI. Cherry red with red upholstery. Retaining its 948cc engine. The Heritage Certificate lists VOT 428's first owner as Miss Charlton of Camberley Surrey. The car was despatched in mid May 1959 to the supplying dealer Swain and Jones Ltd of Farnham, painted Cherry Red as a UK Home Market car. Extras included a heater, rev counter and front bumpers. In 2005 the car went through a comprehensive overhaul with invoices on file, this included a new clutch, ring gear, timing gears and chain as well as a spin on oil filter conversion and new +60’’ pistons. In 2011 it was given a brake overhaul with new cylinders and shoes.
The car was purchase by the previous owner in 2012 who further improved and maintained the car, ensuring it’s appealing originality was retained.
The car drives just as you would expect with a very smooth gearbox and a nippy engine, she is a great fun car to drive round the country lanes on a sunny day (if summer ever decides to make an appearance). The car comes with a lovely history file which contains some invoices and 26 old mots. This car is as good underneath and under the bonnet as she is on top. Retaining its all-steel construction and its very nicely patinated original interior. Comes with spare wheel , side screens, tonneau and roof with no rips or tears.
