1950 Land Rover 80 inch Series 1 |
---|
SOLD |
Vehicle registration YHL501 Vehicle Number 10BC0 Chassis number 06103299 The Landrover entered production in 1948 with what was later termed the Series 1. Here we have an excellent example of a 1950 80 inch Series 1 Landrover. As with all Landrovers of this age it has the ring pull mechanism in the drivers footwell allowing the freewheel to be locked to provide the 4WD. It has a 1.6 litre petrol engine producing around 50 bhp (37 kW; 51 PS). The British Army tested the 80 inch Series 1 Landrover as soon as it was launched in 1948 and they continue to use the modern Defender versions to this day. This Landrover has been lovingly restored and the original air filter is still fitted. This would be one of the last versions of the Landrover with the lights behind the grill as this was changed in 1950 to have them protruding through.
