1967 Morris Minor 1000 Convertible. When Morris launched their cute little Minor way back in 1948, they could never have guessed just what an incredible success it would turn out to be. Not only did it remain in production for 23 years, it also sold in unheard of numbers, over 1.3 million pouring out of the factory before production finally came to an end in 1971. Utterly classless and with excellent road manners, it inspired huge public affection and was equally at home taking her Ladyship to a night at the opera or the district nurse to the homes of her patients. The Minor came in several variants including two- and four-door saloons, a wood-framed Traveller estate, a panel van and a pickup. Most glamorous of all was the convertible Tourer model, launched in 1950, which offered top-down motoring at a budget price. All models were gradually but subtly improved over time, gaining a one-piece windscreen, better heating and an engine that grew from a 27bhp 918cc sidevalve unit to a 1098cc ohv unit that produced 47bhp and could propel the car to a top speed of 77mph.
First registered in July 1967, KOF 19E began life as a standard two-door saloon but was later professionally converted into the Tourer form you see today. Clearly a much-loved machine, she has been treated to considerable expenditure in recent years including a new red interior by Newton Commercials and a new red hood fitted by Minor specialist, Charles Ware of Bristol. Much of the chromework has also been renewed and in December 2016 she was treated to two new wings and a full repaint by C&R Body Repairs of Lydney. To ensure that she goes as well as she looks, she has also been fitted with servo-assisted brakes, electronic ignition, alternator, new wiring loom, new radiator and a stainless steel exhaust. Recorded as a Convertible on the V5C, she retains her original engine and gearbox and comes with a good history file and a fresh MOT will be applied. A lovely example all round, she is doubtless ready for many more years of faithful service and will probably raise more smiles per mile than any other classic. On test drive the Morris performed very well with no faults. Absolutely any inspection is welcome. Viewing is highly recommended. Please call for further information.
